The sheer size of the Texas Medical Center is quite impressive, but navigating appointments, treatments or procedures, having to ambulate from one building to another is not always easy. When you need to get where you’re going quickly, a bicycle is a great way to go: it’s fast, nimble, and green – and best of all, if you don’t have a bike of your own, you can always grab and go from one of the four new BCycle stations located within the Texas Medical Center. According to reports, there are [10 more stations](https://abc13.com/society/4-new-bcycle-stations-installed-at-texas-medical-center-/3892236/) due to be installed in the Texas Medical Center very soon. With so many people coming to Houston to visit the Texas Medical Center, many visitors arrive without transportation of their own, instead relying on public transit, Uber, or an auto rental. Car rentals, however, are not always the most practical way to go. If you are going to be busy in the Texas Medical Center most days, your rental vehicle will be parked all day, so essentially, you are paying to not drive it. You simply sign up, and for a monthly fee of $9 you can access any bike at any station. The first 60 minutes of every ride is free, then you pay just $3 for every 30 minutes thereafter. The clock stops when you dock the bike into a BCycle station. If you don’t want to purchase a membership, you can pay with your credit card at a station and be charged $3 per 30 minutes until the bike is returned. BCycle bikes are pretty high-tech too. If you don’t know the city, you can even get one with navigation, and they all feature front and rear headlamps for your safety.
